Freshmen Seminar/Health

We believe that every 9th grade student can achieve success in high school and beyond by fostering a growth mindset, skill building, and by establishing clear expectations.

Freshman Seminar - (1 Semester)
Freshman Seminar is a semester-long course offered in partnership with Pueblo Community College. Students explore strategies for academic success, personal management, and effective communication while developing critical and creative thinking skills. The course also emphasizes community building, awareness of diverse identities, and educational and career planning, providing a strong foundation for success in high school and beyond. Students are able to register with PCC and earn 3 credit hours at no cost to them.

Health - (1 Semester)
Health is a semester-long course that provides students with the knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle, make smart and informed choices and learn how daily decisions impact their quality of life. Topics include, but are not limited to: body image, substance abuse, stress management, relationships, human sexuality, violence prevention, and fitness. The course emphasizes the impact of health behaviors on quality of life and encourages students to make informed choices for their well-being.
