Social Studies
Our social studies teachers put the "SOCIAL" in social studies.
Social Studies prepares students to understand the forces that have shaped the world and their place in it. Coures explore major political, social, economic, and cultural developments through critical thinking, analysis of primary sources, Document-Based Questions (DBQs), and current events, and real-world connections. Honors course offer deeper discussion, advanced analysis, and challenging projects for self-motivated learners, while concurrent enrollment options allow student sto earn college credit while engaging in rigorous course work.
Choosing the Right Social Studies Courses
When selecting social studies courses, students should consider future college, career, and workforce goals,
review their Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), talk with their family, and meet with counselors and teachers to
discuss the best course options. Admission requirements vary by college and university, so students planning to attend a four-year
college should ensure their social studies courses meet the college’s entrance requirements. If students are planning to attend a 4-year college or university, it is highly recommended they enroll in a World History course prior to graduation.
